Suffering
Suffering is not necessarily a bad thing.
Some say we suffer to learn lessons. However, the Church finds this to be not likely, because if Eternity is real, we would have learned the lessons long ago. We may need to learn lessons for each life we live, however.
The Church asks:
- Would we really have pleasure without suffering? Isn't it the contrast which really allows us to feel something other than monotony (A flatline)?
-Would we appreciate heaven without knowing what suffering is? A knowledge of suffering may be why we are here, to learn how to appreciate heaven. (<<Note>> The church means the heaven side of this realm when it says heaven, as this Life area might also be the Heaven area, and both might be Hell. Please see the Heaven/Hell page for more information)
- Perhaps we were simply curious, and asked to come here so we could learn what a spanking feels like, never having felt one before, or not being able to feel one in the side of this realm we call "Heaven".
- Maybe we as souls were bored with eternity and having whatever we want, so we came here to forget about eternity, to create fake "endings" called death so we could have stories/movies (Lives) in eternity and to have suffering vs. pleasure. In this scenario, we and God/ess would be playing a cosmic game, the game of LIFE: fun vs. eternal boredom. Perhaps this is God/ess's gift to us, a sort of heaven.
An acceptance of suffering may help ease suffering. When one is crying, to say in your mind "It is ok that I am grieving, I am ok" may help the sufferer more than fighting it and making themselves and their emotions "wrong." Some, even enjoy suffering as a part of life, and freely admit it.
Once one has learned enough suffering to remember it for a large part of eternity and be grateful for heaven, there may be no more need for suffering in this individual, until or unless they become bored in heaven again.
The Church believes suffering is quite possibly a part of the Game of Life that was given to us to bring us a loss of eternal boredom and a game to play, as stated above.
However, because suffering is a feeling that most beings do not enjoy, the World Church's stance is to attempt to alleviate as much of the suffering in the World as possible, while at the same time teaching to accept the necessary suffering that is here and is intrinsic in this part of this realm.
